About Vicki
Vicki Childs grew up in England, where she spent her childhood dreaming up fantastic stories set in faraway lands instead of behaving like a sensible British child. She studied psychology and spent ten years in the corporate world, but after her growing family moved to California, she decided she’d had quite enough of being sensible—and finally became an author.
She writes the kind of books she loves to read: warm, emotional women’s fiction filled with family secrets, fierce friendships, hopeful new beginnings, and the occasional hint of magic peeking in from the edges.
Vicki now lives in Windermere, Florida, with her husband, two children, and an unreasonable number of pets. You can find her writing with a mug of coffee by her side and a dog at her feet, researching odd bits of history and insisting that her characters will cooperate this time. (They never do.)
QUESTIONS FOR THE AUTHOR:

Q: What prompted you to write your first novel?
​
A: I have always enjoyed telling stories, I put it down to my Celtic genes, but I'd never considered writing a book until one Tuesday afternoon in May 2019.
I met a friend for coffee. He is an author who had just published his third novel. We talked about writing, and I began to feel the glimmer of inspiration. By Saturday I was already planning the novel that would become Rachel's Butterflies!​​​
Q: Do you write full time? If not, then how do you find the time to write?
​
A: I don't write full time as I'm currently focusing most of my time and energy on being a mom. However, I have learned to put aside my preconceptions about where and how I should be writing, and instead I just use the time and resources I have available to me.
I have written many of my chapters while folding laundry or sitting in the car at extracurricular activities. I love to write, and I enjoy spending time with my characters, so I will find the time even when my schedule is challenging.
