The British countryside is truly spectacular, and as such it takes pride of place in my Rachel's Butterflies trilogy.
In Rachel's Butterflies - the first book in the series - Emily and her family live in a picture perfect village in Surrey, complete with a meandering stream and sheep grazing in lush green fields.
This beautiful setting required no imagination on my part, however, as it is based on a real village called Shere, somewhere I have spent many a happy summer's day.
Fun fact - Shere is also the setting for the movie The Holiday, featuring Cameron Diaz, Kate Winslet, and Jude Law, as well as Four Weddings and a Funeral, and Bridget Jones.
